Till now, 41 percent of the paddy harvesting in the haor (wetland) areas of the country has been completed.

Of this, 38 percent harvesting was in Kishoreganj, 73 percent in Netrokona, 29 percent in Brahmanbaria, 37 percent in Sylhet, 36 percent in Moulvibazar, 25 percent in Habiganj and 42 percent in Sunamganj.

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension, boro paddy has been planted in 452138 hectares of land in 8 districts of the country, including Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj.

And non-haor has been planted in 498180 hectares of land. Total (haor and non-haor combined) has been planted in 950318 hectares of land. Out of this, paddy of 9,700 hectares of land has been affected by heavy rains and landslides, which is one percent (1 percent) of the total cultivation.

Meanwhile, considering the heavy rains, hill slopes and hostile weather, it has been instructed to harvest paddy from the haors as soon as it is 80 percent ripe. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture is providing necessary assistance to the farmers for speedy harvesting of ripe paddy.

Adequate allocation of combine harvester and reaper has been brought from other districts as well.

At present about 1,700 combine harvesters and reapers are being used to harvest paddy in the haors, of which 1,100 are local and 350 fetched from other districts.
