417 Bangladeshis stranded in Saudi Arabia brought back

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues spreading across the world, the government on Tuesday brought back 417 Bangladeshis, including 317 Umrah pilgrims, who were stranded in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah.

State Minister for Foreign Affair Shahriar Alam confirmed the matter through a Facebook status.
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying them landed at the capital’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, said Group Caption AHM Touhid-ul-Ahsan, director of the airport.

The Bangladeshi citizens were stuck in the kingdom since the kingdom on March 14 suspended all international flights for two weeks to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Saudi Arabia reported 15 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of cases in the country to 133, the ministry of health said on Monday.

More than 183,000 people have been infected by Coronavirus or COVID-19with over 7,100 deaths in over 155 countries so far since it was first reported in China late last year.
