41 illegal shops demolished

The concerned authorities of Thakurgaon Sadar Upalzila evicted a number of illegal shops on Thursday. In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, instructions were issued to evacuate the surrounding areas of various haats and bazaars in Khochabari haat under the district.

On Thursday, a drive led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bahni Shikha Asha along with police and Ansar Bahini, Union Parishad Chairman Ara Uddin Master evicted 41 shops from government market land.

In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun said, even though the traders were asked to remove their illegal establishments, they were evading the situation. 

In addition, 10 families living on the land of Khonchabari Haat were given 15 days notice to leave the land of the Hat voluntarily and move elsewhere. If they do not move elsewhere within the stipulated time, they will also be evacuated.

It may be mentioned that in order to prevent the epidemic of corona, the upazila administration directed to move the designated haats to the adjoining school grounds to ensure social distancing in different hatbazars of Thakurgaon district.
