41 fined for defying warning

A mobile court fined forty-one people for not maintaining social distance, keeping the shops open after 5:00 pm and for gathering outside without need defying govt directives amid corona virus crisis in five upazilas of Thakurgaon on Tuesday.

The mobile court fined these people raiding different business organizations, Bazar, markets and shops in the district from afternoon till about 9 pm.

Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Baliadangi Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Alam Sumon and Haripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Karim fined these people Tk 42,200.

Of these 41 people 30 were fined in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, 7 in Baliadangi Upazila and 4 in Haripur Upazila.

Also, in the evening, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Amit Kumar Saha  ordered Thakurgaon Jute Mills to remain closed as the jute mill was kept open and directed the jute mills not to operate until administration gives permission.

Thakurgaon DC Dr. KM Kamruzzaman Selim said such operation will continue in the public interest. He also urged all to stay in their homes safely to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus.
