40 IU students injured in Kushtia road crash

Over 40 masters’ students of Management Department of Islamic University (IU) were injured in a road crash in Kushtia district including   two teachers of the department on early Friday.

The two injured teachers are Associate Professor Murshid Alam and Dhananjoya Kumar of the university. Jahangir Arif, IU police station officer-in-charge (OC) said that the accident took place at Bittipara under Kushtia Sadar Upazila around 1:30am when the IU bus carrying the teachers and students hit a roadside tree while the driver lost control over the steering. 

A team of police of IU police station went to the spot and rescued the injured people after information and sent them to Kushtia Sadar Hospital and Islamic University Medical centre, he added. The duty doctor of IU medical Parvez Hasan confirmed around 26 students and 2 teachers took primary treatment here where the condition of two students is so critical.

Besides, the condition of the bus driver was so critical, who took treatment at Kushtia Sadar Hospital, sources said. Mentioned, the vehicle management department returning to the campus after completing a fieldwork from Naogaon with 60 students and teachers while 17 students drooped in Kushtia town and 40 left injured in Bhittipara.
