4 workers killed as truck ploughs into workers’ house in Ctg

Four brick kiln workers were killed and two others were injured when a wood-laden truck ploughed through a makeshift workers’ house at Islampur village under Rangunia upazila in Chattogram in the early hours on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Jafar, 35, Nazim Uddin, 26, Abdul Mannan, 35 and Abdul Monaf, 36, all hailed from Hatiya upazila of Noakhal.

Imiaz Ahmed Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rangunia Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said that the accident took place at Gabtoli area of Islampur village at about 4:15 am when the Chattogram bound wood-laden truck ploughed through the roadside makeshift house, made for brick kiln workers, after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving four workers dead on the spot.

The eight workers were asleep at the house when the accident occurred.

On information, police and fire service personnel recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) morgue.

The injured were admitted to the CMCH, police said.
