4 more arrested in land grabbing by NID fraud case

The CID has arrested four people, including two others, in a case filed in Kushtia in connection with the seizure of a person’s land worth a hundred crore by forging a National Identity Card (NID). A total of 11 people were arrested in this case.

They were arrested in a raid from last Sunday night to Monday (September 28) afternoon.

The arrested accused are Khaibar Sheikh, Rangila Khatun, Harun-ur-Rashid and Hur Ali. Earlier, police arrested six accused in the same case.

CID Sub-Inspector (SI) Sujit Kumar Ghosh, who is investigating the case, said that they were arrested from different places from last night to this afternoon. Khaibar Sheikh, one of the accused in the case, and Harun ur Rashid, who was named in the investigation, were taken to court and made confessional statements.

The investigating officer said that the accused had given some important information in their confession given in the court which is not going to be detailed at the moment in the interest of further investigation.

Incidentally, on September 3, a gang swindled the assets of a hundred crore from a man named MMA Wadud of NS Road area of Kushtia city. An investigative report on the issue was broadcast on a private television station. Later, the police filed a case against 18 people.

On September 16, the police handed over the case to the CID. The CID is currently investigating.
