4 killed in Bogura road accident

Four people, including a driver, were killed and seven others were injured in a head on collision between a covered van and a passenger bus at Banani area in Bogura town on early Tuesday.

Three of deceased were identified as Hridoy, resident of Hizla area in Barishal, Shamim Hossain and Jamal Hossain, both residents of Kazipur area in Sirajganj. Identity of a woman deceased could not be known immediately.

In-Charge of Chhilimpur Medical Police Outpost Inspector Miladunnabi said a Naogaon bound bus of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan coming from Dhaka collided head on with a covered van coming from the opposite direction at around 2:50am on Tuesday. Hridoy, the driver of the covered van and an unidentified woman died on the spot. Later, another injured, Shamim, died on the way to the hospital. Another critically injured, Jamal, succumbed to his injury while he was receiving treatment.

The deceased and the injured were sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

The on-duty doctor of the emergency department of the hospital said the bodies of the deceased were kept in the hospital morgue. Among the injured, one was discharged after providing first aid. However, the rest of the injured were admitted into various departments of the hospital for treatment. 

Managing Director of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan and general secretary of district bus, minibus and coach transportation owners’ association Aminul Islam said, the bus was parked and passengers were getting off the bus when the covered van rammed into it. Several people, including the driver of the bus, were critically injured and they are receiving treatment now.
