4 illegal brick kilns demolished in Jamalpur

A mobile court of the Department of Environment (DoE) in a drive fined four illegal brick kilns of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila Tk 23 lakh. 

Besides, the brick kilns have been closed and demolished.

The raid was conducted in Jangalpara board house, Gobindpur and Chhontia areas of the Upazila on Wednesday.

Abdullah Al Mansoor, District Magistrate and Deputy Director of Mymensingh Divisional Office were present at the time.

It was informed at a press release in the evening that M/s Star One Bricks of Jangalpara Boardghar area was fined Tk 6 lakh, King Bricks of Gobindpur area fined Tk 6 lakh, Jiban Bricks of Chhontia area fined Tk 5 lakh and Nachib Dhaka Bricks was fined Tk 6 lakh. 

At the same time, these brick kilns were demolished.

Jamalpur District Environment Directorate Assistant Director Sukumar Saha, Inspector Hedayetul Islam were also present. 

Besides, district police, fire service and civil defence personnel have been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident.Jamalpur Environment Department Assistant Director Sukumar Saha said, “Jamalpur has 115 brick kilns but only 10 to 11 have licence. 

We will continue our campaign against every illegal brick kiln”.
