Police arrested four fake customs officers from the 2nd gate area of Benapole land port on Tuesday night. The arrestees were identified as Akthar Farukh (45), son of Rafikul Islam of Hosenpur village in Chandpur district, Sofiqur Rahman (44), son of Mohammad Ali of Nayakandi village of the district, Minar Hossain, (43), son of Abul Hossain of Chanpur village in Narsingdi district, Nurujjaman Nazrul (38), son of Abdul Hamid of Machakhali village in Shariatpur.
Mamun Khan, OC of Benapole Port Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said that four persons attempted to commit robbery. They blackmailed two businessman and demanded Tk 30 lakh from them. The businessmen, who went there from Dhaka, informed the matter to the police. Later, police arrested the four frauds.
