Four meritorious students of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and Begum Badrunnesa Memorial Scholarship” for their outstanding academic performances.
The recipients of the scholarships are Dipti, Ishrat Jahan Imo, Jannatul Ferdous Jerin and Mehedi Hasan. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function held on Sunday at Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium of the university. Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Dr. Dilara Zahid presided over the function while Vice-Chancellor of Global University Bangladesh Prof. Dr. Anisuzzaman delivered Memorial Lecture. Pro- Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University and donor’s representative Prof. Dr. Mahbuba Nasreen and Dr. Mirza Mohammad Arifur Rahman also addressed it.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman paid glowing tributes to the memory of late Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and late Begum Badrunnesa and said they were personalities of non-communal and humanitarian values.
He urged the students to become worthy citizen following the ideals of late Mirza Mohammad Abdullah and late Begum Badrunnesa.
