4 Covid-19 patients detected in Faridpur

Four patients have been identified in Faridpur with coronavirus and seven are currently in isolation at Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Two of the infected are members of the same family from Dangi union of Nagarkanda upazila. 

The other person is from Boalmari Upazila. This is the first time a coronavirus patient has been identified in Boalmari Upazila. The remaining three people are from Dangi Union of Nagarkanda Upazila.

The first coronavirus patient was detected on April 13 in Nagarkanda. On the same night, the city was declared on lockdown by the upazila administration. The victim was sent to Dhaka on April 14. His wife was admitted to the isolation ward of Faridpur Medical College Hospital. 

In addition, another patient from Boalmari suffering from the infectious disease is currently admitted to the isolation ward of Faridpur Medical College Hospital. From there his sample was sent to Dhaka.

Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr Siddikur Rahman said, “We have sent some samples to Dhaka. Among them, reports from Dhaka came positive for two of them on Friday night.” 

He said that till now the samples have been sent to Dhaka for the coronavirus test of 124 suspected individuals in Faridpur. 83 of the patients’ reports have been sent back. Four of them have been identified as coronavirus patients. Meanwhile, the district health department said that in the last 24 hours, 17 people were taken to home quarantine. 

12 people received release from home quarantine in 24 hours. 1941 people were kept in quarantine. 1706 people got release. Currently there are 235 people in home quarantine.

Meanwhile, a patient named Chanchal Munshi of Bhajan Kanda area of Kodalia Shaheed Nagar Union died this morning at Nagarkanda in the district. His father's name is Hemayat Munshi. The samples of the deceased and his wife will be collected and sent to Dhaka, said Upazila Executive Officer Jeti Pru.  He was suffering from shortness of breath and sore throat for the last 8 to 10 days.
