4 Bangladeshis return home from India jail

Four Bangladeshis have returned to Bangladesh through Benapole check post after serving three years in a jail in India. 

Petrapole Immigration Police of India handed them over to the Benapole Immigration Police on Thursday through a travel permit.

Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge, Benapole Immigration Police, said the returnees hailing from Norail district went to Mumbai in search of job three and a half years ago. 

Later, Indian police arrested them and sent them to the Mumbai Central Jail. At the end of the sentence, governments of both countries and several NGOs arranged their return.

The returnees were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station after completing formalities. 

Later, Abdul Muhith, coordinator of Jashore-based NGO Justice and Care took them into his custody 

and handed them over to their respective families.
