A total of Taka 2.5 lakh was distributed among 39 destitute people in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Sunday.
Lawmaker of women reserved seat in Chapainawabganj Ferdousi Islam Jesi distributed the money as the chief guest from her own fund.
Each of 11 of the recipient got Taka 10,000 and each of 28 recipient got Taka 5,000.
Chapainawabganj sadar upazila administration arranged a simple function on the occasion held at its conference room with upazila nirbahi officer Md Rawshan Ali in the chair.
The function was addressed, among others, by former director of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur D Md Saiful Islam and vice chairman of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila parishad Nasrin Akhtar.
