39,953 Hajj pilgrims reach Saudi Arabia

A total of 39,953 pilgrims went to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj through 109 government and non-government flights till Friday. According to the 9th bulletin of Dhaka Hajj office issued here today, 54 hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and 55 flights of Saudi Airlines landed at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah safely carrying the pilgrims, reports BSS.

Among the 39,953 pilgrims, 35,768 will perform the hajj under private management while the rest under the government management. According to Hajj Camp and Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources, this year a total of 126,923 pilgrims will perform Hajj both under the government and private management.

This year, for the first time, immigration formalities of Bangladeshi pilgrims are scheduled to be completed in Dhaka as ‘pre arrival immigration’ of Saudi Arabia. Subject to the sighting of moon, the holy Hajj will be held on August 10 next, according to the Religious Affairs Ministry. The last Hajj flight will fly for Saudi Arabia on August 5 next from Bangladesh while the return flights will start on August 17, 2019.
