Bangladesh registered 38 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday, taking the death toll to 12,348.
The country recorded 1,028 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,87,726, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.
The number of fatalities and newly infected cases have been fluctuating for the last few days. The number of fatalities was above 30 in the last week which dropped on Friday to 26 and increased again on Saturday.
The number of newly infected has declined compared to a day earlier.
The death rate now stands at 1.57 percent in the country, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 8.41 percent. The total positivity rate stands at 13.57 percent.
Among the 38 deceased, 25 were men, and 13 were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.
Of the total deceased, sixteen hailed from Dhaka division, seven from Chattogram, four each from Rajshahi, Khulna and Sylhet, two from Rangpur and one from Barishal division.
A total of 12,230 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. At least 759 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,29,798 and the recovery rate at 92.65 percent.
As of Saturday, 3,458,946 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 166,514,358 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
