38 Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours, 1,514 newly infected

Bangladesh registered 38 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am on Monday taking the death toll to 11,972. The number of fatalities has dropped while the number of newly infected has increased. 

The death rate now stands at 1.54 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday. 

The country recorded 1,514 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,75,027, added the release. The current positivity rate stands at 8.99 percent and the total positivity rate stands at 13.72 percent.

Among the 38 deceased, 25 were men, and 13 were women. Of them, 36 died in different hospitals across the country while two at home. 

1the press release also said that 15 of the deceased hailed from Dhaka Division, 11 from Chattogram, six from Rajshahi, three from Sylhet, two from Barishal and one Rangpur division.

A total of 16,848 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday. 

At least 2,115 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,12,277 and the recovery rate at 91.90 percent.

As of Monday, 3,307,536 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 158,992,708 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
