A total of 378 teachers and students of Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have been ranked among the world's best researchers in the Alper Dogger (AD) Scientific Index Ranking-2023. Recently, this list was published on the AD Scientific Index website.
It is known that 14 lakh 41 thousand 104 researchers from 22 thousand 790 institutions of 219 countries of the world have been included in this list. According to the information published on its own website of this index of international quality, researchers have been divided into 12 categories.
Some 10 thousand 33 researchers from Bangladesh have been placed in the list of AD Scientific Index Ranking-2014. Among them, 378 teachers and students of different departments of SUST have been placed in different categories.
The ranking is published on the basis of the H Index, Iten Index and Citation Score of the last five years of research of Scientific Index researchers in Google Scholar's research profile.
Meanwhile, Shahjalal University authorities made the use of the Turn-it-in (plagiarism check) system mandatory for teachers on October 6, 2021, to prevent plagiarism and maintain quality.
The university Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Kabir Hossain said that maximum measures have been taken to encourage research in the university. He said that good research increases the value of a researcher.
“Our allocation for research is the highest in the country. We are making more efforts to make everyone research-oriented,” Hossain said.
The university Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed is giving priority to the issue of budget allocation in the research sector. He told Bangladesh Post that there is no alternative to research in the university's progress. Every year the research budget has increased to allow the researches by teachers basic and international standard. It is the only public university in Bangladesh where 5 percent of the total budget is allocated for research. Turn-it-in software is used here to ensure the quality of research.
The Vice-Chancellor also said that various incentives have been introduced to encourage research activities. All in all, the present administration is working tirelessly to ensure an excellent research environment.
