36 die of Covid in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered 36 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,461 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 12,193 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,824,180, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity rate stands 27.43 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.51 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.56 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 36 deceased, 17 were males and 19 were females. Of them, 13 were from Dhaka, seven from Khulna, six from Rajshahi, five from Chattogram, three from Barisal and one each from Sylhet and Mymensingh division. 

A total of 44,451 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 4,203 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,575,137 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 86.35 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,708,247 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 382,781,078 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
