350 illegal houses demolished in Ctg

The district administration of Chattogram on Wednesday evicted 350 illegal houses in a joint operation in the hilly areas bordering Bayazid, Hathazari and Sitakunda police stations.

Chattogram Additional District Magistrate Badiul Alam said five hundred illegal settlements were built in an area of seven sq km in the hilly areas of these three police station areas during the general holiday of the corona epidemic.

On Wednesday in the first day's operation on both sides of the Bayazid-Fauzdarhat road, apart from evicting the houses ten people involved with the illegal works were also punished for various terms.

He also said that the eviction program will continue in the next few days.

Three executive magistrates of the district administration have launched the eviction drive against illegal occupants in adjoining areas of Bayazid, Hathazari, and Sitakundao hill in the district.

They started the operation with the help of huge number of police, RAB and other law enforcers including local representatives around 10 am on Wednesday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bayezid Police Station Preton Sarkar said that operations have been conducted against illegal occupants in the hills.

Badiul Alam, Additional District Magistrate along with three magistrates of the district administration were conducting the eviction drive operation. The campaign is against illegal occupants to protect the environment and the mountains.

It is to be mentioned that the land grabbers are cutting many hills for years adjacent to the Bayazid Arefin Nagar area, Chandranagar area, Chinna Mul Basti, International Women University areas and many other hilly areas where there is no presence of administration.
