Bangladesh registered 32 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Monday taking the death toll to 12,181.
The death rate now stands at 1.56 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
The number of newly infected has nearly doubled compared to a day earlier. The death toll has also increased slightly. The country recorded 698 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,80,857, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 6.75 percent. The total positivity rate stands at 13.66 percent. Among the 32 deceased, 23 were men, and 9 were women. 30 victims died in different hospitals across the country and two died at home.
21 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 3 from Sylhet, 2 each from Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna and 1 each from Barishal and Mymensingh divisions.
A total of 10,347 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.
At least 1,058 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,23,094 and the recovery rate at 92.60 percent.
As of Monday, 3,394,311 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 163,750,604 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
