31st death anniversary of Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain observed

The 31st death anniversary of late Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain has been observed in Gopalganj through prayers.

Brother of Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, son of traditional Sheikh family of Tungipara, Gopalganj, uncle of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, grandfather of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Kabir Hossain, Sheikh Sahan, Sheikh Zakir, Milk Vita Chairman Sheikh Nadir Hossain Lipu, Sheikh Azgar Hossain Dipu, Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain, the proud father of Sheikh Kamrul Islam Bittu, President of Bangladesh Tanti League and Sheikh Rakib Hossain, Mayor-elect of Gopalganj Municipality, died on this day 31 years ago leaving behind a worthy successor. Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain was engaged in the welfare of the people of this country during his career. During the British rule he was the chairman of Gopalganj Union Board. The British were satisfied with his public service work and gave him the title "Khan Sahib". Besides, Khan Saheb Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain Saheb was elected Member of Parliament in 1965 and 1970. He moved to India in the war of liberation in 1971 and his house was burnt down by the Pakistani Pak army.

On the occasion of the 31st death anniversary of the late Khan Mosharraf Hossain, his family organized prayer mahfils at various mosques and madrasas in Tungipara and Gopalganj and at his home in Bankpara, a suburb of Gopalganj.
