300 farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila had received fertilizer and seeds free of cost from the department of agriculture extension (DAE). Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manira Begum distributed the materials at the DAE office premises on Wednesday aiming at expanding the maskalai farming in the current season.
DAE deputy director (DD) of Kahmarabri in Jhenaidiah Asgar Ali, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidah Sadar SM Shahin, upazila agriculture officer (UAO) Jahedul Karim among others present. Each of the famers received five kilograms of maskalai seeds and same quantity of muriate of potash (MoP) fertilizer.
DC Manira Begum in her speech as chief guest said the incentive will held the farmers partially, while encourage them to bring additional land under the pulse crop maskalai farming from now on. It will also help meet our national pulse demand and reduce the dependency of pulse import.
