A number of 30 persons died of Covid-19 and 1464 more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in the last 24-hour till Monday morning in Khulna division.
The death toll from the virus reached 1,011 after 30 fatalities were reported in nine districts of the division during the time, said Dr Rasheda Sultana, divisional director of health.
A total of 1, 464 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in all 10 districts of the division on Monday, climbing the number of infected patients to 53,631, she added.
The total fatalities included the highest 246 in Khulna, 198 in Kushtia, 134 in Jashore, 86 in Chuadanga, 87 in Jhenaidah, 81 in Bagerhat, 67 in Satkhira, 46 in Meherpur, 41 in Narail and 25 in Magura district, she said.
Among the new deaths nine are in Kushtia, six in Khulna, four each in Jhenaidah and Meherpur, two each in Chuadanga and Bagerhat, one each in Satkhira, Narail and Jashore districts in the division.
The new daily infection figure also shows a sharp increase compared to the previous day’s figure of 1,202, said the health department sources.
“Among the infected people, 36,978 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 363 new recoveries found this morning,” said Dr Rasheda, adding that a total of 6,745 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals in Khuna.
Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 53,938 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 37,604 have been released so far.
On the other hand, 249 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 152 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8.00am on Monday.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 454 were detected in Jashore, 311 in Khulna, 172 in Kushtia, 143 in Jhenaidah, 124 in Bagerhat, 84 in Chuadanga, 75 in Meherpur, 53 in Narail, 26 in Satkhira and 22 in Magura district in the division.
With the new detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total case stands at 14,943 in Khulna, 11,779 in Jashore, 7,356 in Kushtia, 4,137 in Jhenaidah, 3,300 in Satkhira, 3,183 in Bagerhat, 3,167 in Chuadanga, 2,581 in Narail, 1,676 Meherpur and 1,509 in Magura district in the division.
