Leaving the awful nightmare of serious gridlock in capital Dhaka, many commuters, who completed their 24 kilometres journey by Metro Rail from Uttara to Motijheel in just 30 minutes on Sunday, expressed joy, saying it was unbelievable.

Therefore, we believe once all the 16 stations between Uttara and Motijheel route become operational, the journey will take around 38 minutes. When the route from Uttara to Motijheel will be fully functional, around 5, 00,000 people will be able to use the metro rail daily. National dailies, news agencies and television channels ran several stories on it in detail.

We city people are now very happy and delighted as the government opened metro rail services between Uttara and Motijheel. Usually people who travel by public buses or other vehicles need minimum two or three hours to travel from Uttara to Motijheel. But now if anyone wants to reach Motijheel from Uttara by metro rail, he or she can easily save minimum two hours to two and half hours.

We highly appreciate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for introducing metro rail as everyone can travel easily, save working hours, get relief from traffic congestion, and benefit economically. The present government led by Sheikh Hasina had implemented various projects over the last 14 years and nine months, but BNP does not like the development.

Anti-liberation force BNP-Jamaat wants to mar the development of the incumbent government as they do not have respect for the country’s Constitution and democracy and wants to go to power in an undemocratic way. Most of the mega projects – Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Dhaka Elevated Expressway and Karnaphuli Tunnel, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Dhaka Mass Rapid Development Transit Project, Moheshkhali-Matarbari Integrated Infrastructure, Payra Sea Port, Padma Bridge rail link and construction of Rail track between Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar in phases have already been completed and are now on operation.  So, we witnessed a revolutionary change in the country’s communication arena this year.

So, we

country’s communication arena this year

These mega projects have already started changing the economic landscape of the country, as well as many of them are expecting to connect different countries of South and Southeast Asia and contribute to communication, trade, industry, tourism and many other sectors in various ways. The Metro Rail, Dhaka Elevated Expressway and Mass Rapid Development Transit are reducing traffic congestion in capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas while the Karnaphuli Tunnel is linking the main port city Chattogram and western side of the Karnaphuli along with the heavy industry-prone eastern side of the river.

Therefore, with the implementation of these mega projects, the major election pledges of Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been materialised this year. The dream of millions of people has become true alongside capital Dhaka and port city Chattogram.

While announcing her party’s election manifesto ahead of the 11th parliamentary polls in 2018, Sheikh Hasina had given commitment to implement ten mega projects. We,  therefore, need cooperation from all stakeholders and peaceful environment in the countryfor implementation of the rest dream projects timely.
