Thirty people, including five women, were injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute at Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
The incident occurred at Mirapur village under Rohanpur union in the upazila on Thursday morning.
According to locals, there was an ongoing land dispute between the late Azharuddin Tunu Mia of Puraton Bazar and the villagers, with a case pending in court. Recently, Tunu Mia's heirs received a favourable verdict from the court.
On Thursday morning, his son Manik, a former councillor of Ward No. 3 of Rohanpur Thana, attempted to seize the land with some hired "thugs" but the villagers resisted. This escalated into a full-blown clash between the two sides, leaving 30 people injured from both parties.
Furthermore, when the injured villagers sought treatment at the hospital, they were reportedly attacked by the "thugs." Police arrested seven individuals suspected of being "thugs" from the hospital premises and took them to the police station.

Among them, six were transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Five people are undergoing treatment at the hospital while others were discharged after receiving primary care, he added.
