Police arrested three youths accused of raping a teenager at Guakhola village in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore district on Sunday night.
The arrestees were identified as Hasan Ali, 28, son of Liaquat Ali of Lauri village in Monirampur upazila, Habib, 28, son of Chan Miah of Arjunpur village in Koyra upazila of Khulna and Farid, 22, son of late Afil Uddin of the same area. Abhaynagar police sent the arrestees to Jashore court on Monday.
A case has been filed under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act.
The victim was raped while she was on her way to her father's house with her two-year-old nephew Guakhola village in Nawapara municipality.
Hasan Ali and Habib took her to a garden on the side of the road and threatened him. At that time, Hasan Ali and Habib called their accomplice Farid to the spot and raped the girl.
Hasan Ali and Habib fled when the teenager screamed. The teenager informed the family members about the incident, they lodged a complaint with the police.
Abhaynagar police OC Tajul Islam said , police conducted a raid and arrested the three rapists from different areas of Nawapara Municipality.
The OC said that the three arrested persons had confessed to the rape during the preliminary interrogation.
