A Barishal court has sentenced three accused to life-term imprisonment for murdering a little girl after raping her in Barishal city.
Judge Yarab Hossain of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict in presence of the two accused.
The court also fined the accused Tk50,000 each, and in default, they have to suffer six more months in jail.
The accused were Imam Hossain Howlader, Shahria Khan Shakeel and fugitive Baset Khan alias Bagha of ward 23 of the city, bench clerk of the court Humayun Kabir said.
Confirming the matter, special public prosecutor of the court advocate Faizul Haque Faiz said that the nine-year-old victim was the daughter a day labourer.
On September 18, 2016, the victim went out of home to look for her father.
On the way, the accused forcibly took the child to a nearby abandoned tin house and strangled her to death after rape. Then they throw the dead body into the roadside pond of the area.
On the next day, the police recovered the body and then the victim’s father filed a murder case with Kotwali police station accusing unknown persons.
