It is heartening to note that three more mega projects will open to traffic this year. The works on three other mega projects –Metro Rail, first part of Dhaka Elevated Expressway and Karnaphuli Tunnel – are going on in full swing and they will be inaugurated by the end of the current year.

Following the inauguration of Padma Bridge, we have seen a revolutionary change has already brought in the country’s communication arena. The Padma Bridge has made the Eid journey of home-bound people of the southwestern region easier and more comfortable. The people of the southwestern region were able to go home smoothly to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha because of the newly launched Padma Bridge. We hope this dream bridge will also start changing the economic landscape of southwest districts of the country, as well as it will connect many countries of South and Southeast Asia and contribute to communication, trade, industry, tourism and many other sectors in various ways.

Metro Rail and Dhaka Elevated Expressway will reduce traffic congestion in capital Dhaka and its surrounding areas while the Karnaphuli Tunnel will link the main port city Chattogram and western side of the Karnaphuli along with the heavy industry-prone eastern side of the river. Therefore, with the implementation of these mega projects, four of the major election pledges of Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are going to be materialised this year.

development under the

leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter

The ruling Awami League is working restlessly to implement its election pledges amid all odds and conspiracies. While announcing her party’s election manifesto ahead of the 11th parliamentary in 2018, Sheikh Hasina had given commitment to implement ten mega projects. For the first time in the country, ten mega projects are being implemented.

Out of ten, four mega projects will be completed this year. We therefore need cooperation from all stakeholders and peaceful environment in the country in order to implement the dream projects timely. Besides, the government will have to move forward cautiously so that no conspiracy can impede the current development spree of the country.

Bangladesh is marching forward manifesting massive development under the prudent leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter. If any element wants to create anarchic situation in the country to stop the development of the present government, all must resist them together. Therefore, we believe that if the government and other stakeholders work together the inauguration of three mega projects –Metro Rail, first part of Dhaka Elevated Expressway and Karnaphuli Tunnel would be possible by this year.
