The renovation work on the 3-kilometer-long Alhaj Jashim Uddin Road-4, funded privately at a cost of approximately 30 crore taka, was inaugurated in Rauzan, Chattogram, on Friday.
The project involves constructing an RCC stone slab surface for the road. The inauguration ceremony began with prayers and a munajat (supplication) held in the local Nirmish Para Jame Mosque area, led by members of the Alhaj Jashim Uddin Foundation, a social and welfare voluntary organization.
The entire cost of the road's development is being financed by expatriate businessman Alhaj Muhammad Jashim Uddin. He is the founder and chairman of the Foundation and a six-time award winner from the Bangladesh Bank for being a top remittance sender. Hailing from Samamahaldar Para in Noapara Union, he is based in the United Arab Emirates.
This privately-funded road connects Mia Market at Noapara Patherhat Bazar to Sheikh Para Government Primary School, running adjacent to the Chattogram-Kaptai highway. The road had been in a dilapidated and severely damaged state for about 20 years, making it unsuitable and hazardous for vehicular traffic.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including the donor's elder brother, businessman Alhaj Muhammad Rafiq, and other directors of the foundation such as Alhaj Muhammad Moktar Ahmed and Alhaj Muhammad Abu Taher. Other notable attendees were Mohammad Habib Ullah Master, Headmaster of Noapara High School, social worker Ahmadul Haq, and various local businessmen, engineers, journalists, and Union Parishad members.
Prayers at the ceremony were conducted by Maulana Hafez Aziz Uddin, the Principal of Taheria Sunnia Madrasa.
