Three people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed by lightning strike in Thakurgaon on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Merina Begum, 35, daughter of Syed Ali, her daughter Sathi Akter, 14, both resident of Ujadhari village in Ranisankail upazila of the district, and Md Alim, 27, son of Nawshad Ali, resident of Jadurani West Collegepara village in Haripur upazila of the district.
It was learnt that there was rain with thunderstorm in the district at noon. Merina Begum and her daughter Sathi were working in a field beside their home. They were killed by lightning at that time.
Meanwhile, Md Alim was also working in a field near his house when a lightning hit him and he was killed at the spot.
The locals recovered the bodies of Merina Begum and her daughter and took them in their house. Ransankail Upazila Chairman Ahmed Hasan Biplob visited the spot and offered condolence to the families of the victims.
