3 hospitalsfined Tk one lakh in Rangpur

A mobile court initiated by Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) on Saturday fined three private hospitals Taka one lakh and jailed one person for violation of the laws concerned in Dhap area of the city, reports BSS. 

“The hospital owners were fined for providing treatments to the patients without registered doctors and nurses, government approvals and renewal of licenses under unhygienic environment and other reasons,” a press release said.

Led by Executive Magistrate Afrin Jahan of Rangpur, the mobile court sentenced the owner of ‘Ma-Baba General Hospital’ Md. Khalilur Rahman Sohel to one month jail term and fined him Taka 20,000, in default, to suffer more one month imprisonment. Besides, the mobile court fined the owner of ‘Popular General Hospital’ at Medical Mour in Dhap area of the city Taka 50,000 for almost identical reasons as well as having no power supply systems of its own. The mobile court in another raid at ‘Rangpur Specialised Hospital’ fined the owner of the hospital Taka 30,000 for having no government approval and violation of the order of the Civil Surgeon’s Office and other reasons.

“The mobile court also sealed off ‘Ma-Baba General Hospital’ and sent its owner Md. Khalilur Rahman Sohel to jail and suspended all activities of ‘Popular General Hospital’ and ‘Rangpur Specialised

Hospital’,” the release added. Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Ankhi Sarker, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP Abu Maruf Hossain, Assistant Commissioner of Police (DB) Md. Altaf Hossain and other police officials were present during the drives.
