Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel in a drive nabbed three fraudsters with fake currency notes worth around Tk five lakh and fake money-making equipment in Bijoynagar area of Brahmanbaria on Thursday.
A press release signed by RAB-9 Sylhet camp Media Officer Assistant Police Superintendent M Moshiur Rahman said this on Friday.
The detainees are M Rasel Haji, 32, hailed from Chandpur, Alamgir Hossain, 34, resident of Feni Sadar Upazila and M Sony Mia, 19, resident of Kamalmora area under Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria.
RAB sources said it has been recently known that the members of fake currency note-making and marketing gang are making and spreading the notes through syndicate in the markets across the country including Brahmanbaria. They mix the fake currency not with the original ones and do transaction to deceive common people.
Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off, RAB personnel conducted a raid in Kamalmora area of the Upazila and arrested three men.
A color printer with scanner, ink and printing paper, a hard drive, key board, mouse, electric cables with multi plug, anti-cutter and empty jars of chemical were seized from their possession. A total of fake currency notes worth Taka four lakh 88 thousand 500 were also seized from them, the press release added.
A case was filed against them with Bijoynagar Police Station.
