3 held with drugs in Sarishabari

Three suspected drug dealers have been arrested with cannabis and yaba tablets by a patrolling unit of the Bangladesh Army in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur.

The arrests took place on Tuesday at Ekushey Mor in Rudra Boyra, located in the Pogaldigha Union. The detainees have been identified as Rubel Mia, son of Intaz Ali from Hasra Majalia village in Doyail Union; Harun-or-Rashid, son of Joynal Abedin; and Johurul Babu, son of Azizul Haque.

According to sources, the army patrol, led by Captain Arnab Kabir Prapon from the Tarakandi Army Camp, stopped the three men during a routine patrol. Upon searching them, the army personnel recovered 20 yaba pills and 50 grams of cannabis. The suspects were immediately taken into custody.

At around midnight, the detainees were handed over to the Tarakandi Police Investigation Centre.

Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam of the Tarakandi Police Investigation Centre confirmed the handover and stated that a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act. The three accused have since been sent to jail pending further legal proceedings.
