3 held with 3.5 kg gold in Jashore

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained three people from Bahadurpur area in Jashore sadar upazila along with 30 gold bars weighing 3.5 kg on Monday noon. They detained after searching a Benapole-bound Fame Paribahan bus from Shariatpur. 

The detainees are - Ratan Kumar Poddar, 49, son of Gost Bihari Poddar of Golparaya village in Munshiganj Sadar upazila, Pradeep Saha, 55, son of Mintu Saha of Majhiyara village in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria and Pankaj Dutta, 48, son of Suval Dutta of Kaliganj Saha Road area of Gandaria police station in Dhaka.  A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Model Thana in this connection.

Jashore 49 BGB Commanding officer Lt. Colonel Md. Selim Reza said a team led by BGB Assistant Director Mohammad Farooq Hossain took up position at Bahadurpur Bazar area on Jashore-Magura road on the basis of secret information and search of a Benapole-bound Fame Paribahan bus from Shariatpur at around 1:00 pm. At that time 30 gold bars weighing 3.5 kg were recovered from three passengers of the bus. The estimated value of which is two crore 41 lakh 50 thousand taka.
