Three suspects, including two Rohingya youths, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Syed Noor, a resident of Dargah Bill village in Rajapalong Union, Ukhiya. The arrests were made during a police operation from Monday afternoon.

The detainees are Ismail (26), son of Achiur Rahman from Ajukhaiya village in Ghumdhum, Rohingya national Rohmat Ullah, son of Oli Ullah, and another Rohingya, Ali Hossain Munia. A motorcycle used in the crime was also seized from Teknaf’s Whaikyang area.

According to police, Syed Noor was abducted on 18 July. His wife filed a case the following day. Acting on the complaint, police and BGB conducted a joint raid and recovered his body from a remote hilly area in Ajukhaiya.

OC Masrurul Haque stated that the murder stemmed from a financial dispute, and the victim was strangled with a scarf. Locals expressed growing concerns over rising crime in the hills, particularly involving Rohingya individuals.
