3 held over Netrokona gang-rape

A mentally challenged girl was gang-raped at Goradoba area of Kendua in Netrokona five days within gang-raping a ready-made garment worker in the upazila. Police with help of the locals detained three persons from separate places on Monday. The detainees are- Jamrul, 28, Humayun, 23 and Kajal, 40.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP, Kendua Circle) Md Mahmudul Hasan and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kendua Police Station Md Rasheduzzaman confirmed the matter. The mentally challenged girl was picked up and raped at a forest and later at a cowshed. According to locals and police sources, the girl was returning home after visiting her aunt’s home at Wojhati Shibpur village. On her way back, she was allegedly abducted by four men who gang-raped her.

Hearing her screams, locals rescued the girl and called the police. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Kendua Circle) Mahmudul Hasan and Kendua police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Rasheduzzaman rushed to the scene. Locals caught one red-handed while others managed to flee, said the ASP. Afterwards, two others were detained. 

The girl was taken to a local medical facility for treatment on Tuesday morning. In the same upazila, police earlier detained three persons over gang-raping a RMG worker in Kundoli village on the evening of June 6.
