3 held for violating woman in Tangail

Police have arrested three individuals for violating a 22-year-old-woman in Tangail district.

The arrested is identified as Dulal Chandra Das, 28, Rupu Mia, 27 and Sajib Khan, 19, all of them are CNG drivers by profession.

According to police, a woman was violated by the arrested near Gharinda Railway Station on Friday midnight when she was seeking help as she mistakenly boarded the wrong train and seeking for help.

The woman was from Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria, travelling alone, mistakenly boarded the wrong train.

Seeking help, she turned to the railway police and police officer at the station entrusted her to a local CNG auto-rickshaw driver named Dulal for would guide her to safety.

Along with two other CNG drivers, they took the defenceless woman into a wooded area nearby, gang-raped her without mercy and left her back at the railway station  around 2:30AM.

After that, the woman gathered the courage to walk into the railway police outpost and recount her brutal experience. Acknowledging her complaint, police arrested all three accused.

Tangail Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the incident and said that the arrested will be produced before court.
