The team of Consumer Directorate has fined a total of Tk 14,000 to 3 chili selling companies of Riazuddin Bazar in Chattogram for not keeping the price list. Pranab Traders and Riaz Enterprises were fined 2 thousand taka and M/s Anshar Traders were fined 10 thousand taka.
Later the authority raided the foothills of the city. In the raid, Rupsa Food of Saraipara area was fined 8 thousand taka for storing out dated cakes.
The operation was led by Deputy Director of Chattogram Divisional Office Mohammad Faiz Ullah and Assistant Directors Anisur Rahman, Rana Deb Nath and Nasreen Akhtar were present.
Anisur Rahman, Assistant Director of the Chattogram divisional office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, said that during the raid, raw chillies were being sold at Tk 160 per kg in the shops of Riaziddin bazar.
He said that green chillies were being sold at Tk 160 per kg wholesale and Tk 220-280 per kg at retail. There is some stability in the price of green chillies due to the campaign. But we will monitor the matter. Markets will also be monitored on Tuesday.
