3 DU students get Sufia Ahmed grant

Three meritorious students of the Department of Islamic History & Culture of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “National Professor Dr Sufia Ahmed Trust Fund Scholarship” for their outstanding academic results in BA (Hons.) examinations. The recipients of the scholarships are Rezaul Karim, Nazmun Nahar Hena and Tamij Uddin. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students as the chief guest at a function held today January 12, 2023 at RC Majumdar Arts auditorium of the university. 

Chairman of the Department of Islamic History & Culture Professor Dr Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Abdul Bashir, donor’s representatives Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed and Dr Tasnim Raina Fateh addressed it as special guests. Member of the trust fund Professor Dr Humayun Kabir delivered welcome speech. Associate Prof. Suraiya Akter conducted the program. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman paid glowing tributes to the memory of late National Professor Dr Sufia Ahmed and said she was a polite, learned and dedicated teacher and researcher of DU Islamic History & Culture Department. She had contributed a lot to create new knowledge and disseminate it, the VC added. He urged the students to become worthy citizen following the ideals of late National Professor Dr Sufia Ahmed.
