3 drug dealers held with Tk 1 crore crystal meth

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 3 drug dealers with 975 grams of crystal meth (Ice) from Patharghata New Fisharighat area of Kotwali police station in Chattogram city on Monday night.  The estimated value of the rescued crystal meth is Tk 1 crore.  

RAB-7 director Mashiur Rahman Jewel said this at a press conference on Tuesday morning.  The three arrested are Shahidul Islam Tipu, 28, son of Mohammad Musa of East Batua area of Patiya Police Station, Kazi Aminur Rashid, 48, son of late Kazi Mahmudul Haque of Batua area of the same police station and Mohammad SaimonTareq (49), son of late Haji Nur Alam of Gujra area of Raozan Police Station. 

 RAB-7 CEO Mashiur Rahman Jewel said, ‘Last February 24, 140 grams of crystal meth (Ice) was recovered from Khulshi for first time.  The seized crystal meths (Ice) were brought to Chittagong from Teknaf for the second time by a fish trader named Md. Rubel (32) of Patiya.  

He later moved to Saudi Arabia.  After that, the drug gang brought these drugs to Kotwali for sale. '

 He added, ‘They were arrested from Fisarighat area on Monday night.  During the search, 975 grams of crystals were recovered from a bag.  The gang had been selling the drugs at high levels in different areas including Chittagong for a long time.

 A case has been filed against the three detainees at Kotwali police station under the Narcotics Control Act-2018, said RAB-7 director Mashiur Rahman Jewel.
