3 die with corona-like symptom in Lakshmipur

Three people died in 24 hours till Thursday morning on the 5th day of lockdown with fever, cough, symptom of corona virus infection in Lakshmipur.

The deceased were identified as Hussain Muhrar, 55, of ward no 9 under Lakshmipur municipality, Sirajul Islam, 44 of  Uttor Charababil Takuarchar under Raipur upazila and another person in Kamalnagar upazila. Of the three, the health department did not disclose the identity of the deceased person in Kamlnagar upazila.

Six people are currently admitted to the isolation ward of the Zila Sadar Hospital including four newly admitted people. Their samples were collected and sent to Chattogram BITID for corona virus testing. Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdul Gaffar confirmed the news. 

The Civil Surgeon said that 118 people of 30 houses including the houses of  the deceased three are kept in home quarantine. In addition, in 24 hours, 234 more people have been placed in the home quarantine. Earlier, two positive cases of corona virus infection were found in Raipur and Ramgati area of the district. The two are currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Kuwait Moitree Hospital. One of them is a garment worker returned from Dhaka and the other came back from Tablig Jamaat in Narayanganj.

The health department said the samples were collected from 58 people in 24 hours. So far, 365 samples have been collected and sent to BITID in Chattogram for testing. Of which results of 129 samples have been received.

One person has been placed in institutional quarantine. 3,571 people in total were kept in home quarantine in the district. Among them 920 people are currently staying in home quarantine.

In the meantime, a lack of awareness among people has been noticed. Crowds of people have been noticed in markets, banks, government offices and in various shops. However, law enforcement agencies are trying to convince people to stay at their homes.
