3-day public holiday for Durga Puja demanded

A human chain programme was observed in Lalpur of Natore demanding a three-day public holiday for Durga Puja on Friday noon. 

The human chain was formed by the Lalpur Upazila branch of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Sechchasebak and Chhatra Mahajot at Kadai Tala area under Gopalpur Municipality. 

Anup Kumar Acharya, District Priest of Natore and General Secretary of Sevahit Kalyan Parishad, spoke as the chief guest at the programme presided by Jyotirmoy Bhadra Tutu. 

Subhash Chandra, Member of Central Committee of Bangladesh Hindu Mahajot, Pallab Kumar Bagchi, Executive President of Bangladesh Hindu Mahajot Lalpur Upazila Branch, Sanjay Dutt, General Secretary and others spoke at the time among others.

Speakers in the human chain programme demanded that the public holiday for Durga Puja be fixed at three days instead of one day. Later, they took out a procession that ended at Gopalpur Sri Sri Lakshi Narayan Central Temple in the upazila.
