A three-day land fair inauguration ceremony and public awareness meeting was held on Sunday under the theme ‘Pay land development tax regularly and keep your land safe’ at the Chattogram Circuit House premises, organised by the Chattogram District Administration in collaboration with the Land reforms board and the land management automation project.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam presided over the function. Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin was present as the chief guest.
He said that the recent progress, reforms and achievements of the Land Ministry have attracted the attention of different classes of citizens. The government is working towards making land services completely harassment-free and people-friendly by 2028. Mutation, LD tax and Khatian services are now completely online, and any citizen can register, pay land development tax and receive Khatian services himself, from any part of the world, at any time, without having to come to the land office.
Deputy Commissioner said that the land development tax is now being collected full online on a fiscal year basis across the country, and all land offices in the country have been declared cashless and citizen-friendly offices. As a result of being completely online, the amount of government revenue from land services has increased manifold.
Chattogram Range DIG Md. Ahsan Habib, Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nurullah Nuri, District Police Superintendent Md. Saiful Islam Santu and Local Government Director Monowara Begum spoke as special guests at the event. Government officials, journalists and people from various professions including students were present at the event.
The event was inaugurated by a colorful rally and balloon release at the Chattogram circuit house premises. After that, the guests visited various stalls of the fair.
