Three minor children, including two siblings, drowned in water bodies at Sonagazi and Daganbhuna upazilas in Feni on Tuesday evening.
The deceased were identified as Rezvi Hossain, 5, Taspia, 4, son and daughter of Mizanur Rahman of South Charsonapur village of Amirabad union of Sonagazi upazila, and Ahmed Tawsif, 3, son of Mohammad Abu Taher of Salam Nagar village of Daganbhuna upazila.
Quoting locals, police said, “The duo (Rezvi and Taspia) was playing at their courtyard. At one stage, they fell into a nearby pond and drowned. Later, the locals saw the body floating. When they were taken to Sonagazi Health Complex, the doctor declared the siblings dead.”
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi Police Station Sajedul Islam said that they were informed the matter.
Daganbhunna Upazila Health Officer Rubaiyat bin Karim said, “The child, identified as Tawsif, was playing alone and suddenly drowned in the pond. Later, family members rescued them and took him to Daganbhuna Upazila Health Complex, where the physicians pronounced the boy dead.
