3 arrested with 56 stolen phone sets in Palash

Police arrested three youths with 56 stolen smart mobile phones in Palash of Narsingdi. 

Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) KM Shahidul Islam Sohag told this information in a press conference at Palash Police Station on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday night, raids were carried out at various places in Comilla district and they were arrested, said Mohammad Iktyar Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palash police station. 

The arrested are Tajul Islam (39) son of Alam Mia of Chandina police station area of Comilla district, Azad Mia (37) son of Matin Master and Qayyum Hossain (32) son of Bachchu Mia of Devidwar police station.

Additional Superintendent of Police Shahidul Islam Sohag said that 136 mobile phones were stolen by breaking the lock of a mobile phone shop named Meem Telecom in Wapda New Bazaar area of Upazila Sadar in the early hours of December 8. 

In this incident, the victim shop owner filed a case in Palash police station.  

A police team  has been operating a drive to identify the thief. 

On Friday night, with the help of information technology, Palash Thana police raided various police stations in Comilla and arrested those involved in the theft.

Later, according to the information given by them, 56 mobile phones were recovered out of 136 smart mobile phones stolen from the arrested persons. The estimated value of which is about 9 lakh taka. 

The police have identified the names of some other people involved in this incident. 

Additional Superintendent of Police also said that the police operation is continuing to recover the remaining stolen mobile phones including arresting them. 

The arrested have been sent to court seeking seven-day police remand.
