3,850 Bhola farmers to get incentive for Rabi crops farming

A total of 3,850 small and marginal farmers in Daulatkhan upazila of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal in the Rabi season.

Local lawmaker Ali Azam Mukul inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the seeds and fertilizers to some farmers as the chief guest at the Bir Shreshtho Mohammad Mostafa Kamal auditorium of the Daulatkhan Upazila Parishad this afternoon with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saiduzzaman in the chair.

Upazila Parishad Chairman Manjurul Alam Khan, Municipal Mayor Zakir Hossain Talukder, Upazila Agriculture Officer Humayara Siddika, Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Ainun Nahar Binu, among others, also spoke on the occasion.

To increase the interest of farmers in maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers has increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, official of the Department of  Agricultural Extension (DAE) of the upazila said.

DAE said that each farmer will get wheat, maize, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, mung bean and khesari dal seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost among 3,850 farmers for Rabi crops cultivation on one bigha of land.

Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, DAE official added.
