On the occasion of ensuing Eid-ul-Azha, Mymensingh district administration has completed the distribution of VGF rice among the listed poor and distressed people in its all upazilas under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.
Under the programme, a total of 3,17,500 poor and distressed peoples got the allocated rice.
Each of the card-holders received 10 kilograms of rice this time as per the list. The beneficiaries are happy to get the rice before the holy Eid.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) Sanur Hossen said that the government through the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated 3,175 tonnes of rice under the VGF programme in the district.
The rice was distributed among 3,17,500 poor, widows and distressed selected card holders within the stipulated time so that they could celebrate the Eid- ul-Azha in festive mood in the district. Deputy Commissioner Md. Enamul Haque told BSS that the distribution of VGF rice among the selected poor people of the district has already completed maintaining as per the directives of the government. Tag officers have been deployed at all centres to ensure fare distribution of the VGF rice, he added.
