3,000 vegetable packets distributed among poor people

The low income people of the society have become unemployed due to the closure of factories, all kinds of vehicles and trains, to prevent corona virus infection. To alleviate the food crisis of these people, private organisations as well as farmers are working alongside the government.

Bangladesh Farmer Development Society has distributed more than 3 thousand vegetable packets among the helpless people of different upazilas of Pabna including Ishwardi during the last one week.

The Farmers Development Society started this program with the help of Pabna district and Ishwardi upazila administration from April 5. The program was started from Siddikur Rahman alias Kul Moyez's agricultural farm in Muladuli Arakandi village of the Upazila.

The operation was inaugurated by handing over a packet of vegetables to Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bahauddin Farooqi. President of Bangladesh Farmer Development Society Siddiqur Rahman Moyez, General Secretary Abul Hashem and others were present on the occasion.

Farmer Shaheen Sardar, a member of the organization, said that the farmers of Ishwardi are collecting vegetables from their land and distributing them. There are eggplant, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, radish, carrot and green chilies are in these vegetable packets. 

Under the supervision of Ishwardi Upazila Agriculture Extension Department, the vegetable packets are being delivered to different upazilas of the district under the direction of Pabna district and Ishwardi Upazila administration.

President of the organization Siddiqur Rahman said that Bangladesh Farmer Development Society has taken initiatives to distribute vegetables among the low income, poor people of the society due to the situation of the corona virus infection. He further said that the distribution of vegetables in Tangail is underway at the request of Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque.
