The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) on Tuesday distributed special agriculture incentives in terms of seeds and fertilisers among 3,000 small and marginal farmers of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur district. The incentives were distributed in a function arranged at Pirganj Upazila Agriculture Office hall room to assist small and marginal farmers in cultivating Aush rice crop during this Kharif-1 season.
Pirganj Upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mandal distributed the incentives among the beneficiary farmers as the chief guest with Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biroda Rani Roy in the chair. Pirganj Upazila Agriculture Officer of the DAE Agriculturist Sadekuzzaman Sarker and its Agriculture Extension Officer Agriculturist Nasirul Alam attended the function as special guests.
Each of the beneficiary 3,000 farmers of all 15 unions and Pirganj municipality received five kgs of high yielding variety seeds of Aush rice, 10-kg of Muriate of Potash and 20-kg Di-ammonium Phosphate fertilisers free of cost to cultivate Aush rice on 50 decimals of land each. The chief guest suggested the beneficiary farmers to make best use of the cost-free incentives allocated by the government and cultivate high yielding varieties of Aush rice on their crop lands to increase rice output for ensuring national food security.
